Below are some photos which display some of what is being used to build this vacuum form machine. The plans and the construction photos along with FULL details on what is used will be forthcoming later. I designed it using DOUG WALSH'S excellent treatise on the subject and worked out how large I wanted it to be for what I would likely use it for. It will be adaptable for smaller sizes of items I want to vacuum form. I am beginning the construction phase soon having accumulated almost all of the supplies I need to do the construction. I will be photographing the whole construction so you will see the finished product in the near future.
I know most people may never have a need nor never want to build one of these machines, but I am going to include the plans and the cost list for all the pieces and parts so you can see what it would take to do one if you should decide to try it. I will attempt to give you alternatives so you can "adapt" these concepts to your own use, should you plan to build one or something like it. I am not too sure how long it will take to finish the construction but I'm hoping within the next couple of months at the most, this will be done. These are great machines to have for making a vacuum formed copy of the life cast of the actor on which to store foam latex or gelatin prosthetics. The prosthetics hold their shape better that way and it doesn't tie up your life cast in case you have other things to accomplish using it. Also they can be used for creating the plastic understructures of mechanical masks you might want to make and much more. They have tons of uses and are quite handy to have around.
