This is a cool piece to have with an interesting history. This is a latex, urethane foam filled head of the Mr. Hyde character directly from the studios at Universal. As you might know, Don Post had a contract with Universal for many years to do the famous calendar masks of all the great Universal monsters. And this piece is taken from the mold of the Mr. Hyde character which looking at the picture in the upper left hand corner, is what Boris Karloff wore in the film ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET DR. JEKYLL and MR. HYDE. This came from Bud Westmore's makeup studio at Universal and was done by him and Jack Kevan - another makeup artist who worked on this mask with Westmore. This head was created from those molds and sent to Don Post as an example to go by so they could create the calendar mask for this character in that series of masks. It is almost 50 years old at this point and the latex has become very brittle and fragile but it's stable for now. I have to find a good way to preserve this gem of movie history. And as well being a big Boris fan as I am, I just think this piece is tops. One of my favorites.
