Yet another Dick Smith wonderfully created prosthetic used on Blair Brown for a sequence in ALTERED STATES that was cut from the film. I have a photo of Dick applying the "rare-Blair" full body suit and prosthetics for a sequence where Blair Brown's character was supposed to be devoid of skin - showing the musclature and venous system under the skin. This is a face prosthetic from that makeup - done about 20 years ago or so now. It is another incredibly sculpted piece by Dick and has tissue thin veining which I understand was used to pump liquid through once applied so it appeared that fluids (blood) were passing through the visible veins. However, this sequence apparently ended up on the cutting room floor and never made the movie. The photos abound that show the filming of the sequence - it just never made it as far as the final cut. But again, another of Dick Smith's incredible makeup prosthetics that without doubt, is impeccibly rendered for what would have been a great effect - along with all the others the film contained.
